“Sonoma in the City” pours into Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver
Sonoma County Vintners touring top three Canadian wine markets

Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver will play host to the vintners of Sonoma County during a special Canadian market visit during the week of September 21st. Through exclusive tasting events, dozens of vintners will be demonstrating why Sonoma County has garnered attention as one of world’s premier wine regions and earned a leadership position on the international wine scene.

The tour kicks off in downtown Toronto on Monday, September 21st when the Sonoma County spotlight shines at The Arcadian Court at special afternoon and evening tasting events. Located on the eighth floor of the Simpson Tower at the corner of Bay and Queen Street, it is the place to be when 30 Sonoma wineries will be pouring over 80 premium wines, ranging from established classics to brand new winery premieres. This special tasting will also feature delicious Sonoma tapas created by Sonoma wine country chef Bruce Riezenman.

“Canadians have come to expect and appreciate the excellence and uniqueness of our products. We compete – and win – against the best in the world,” said Honore Comfort, Executive Director, Sonoma County Vintners (SCV). “The cities of Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver are sophisticated markets. Both trade and consumer audiences understand quality foods and wines. That said, we look forward to enhancing the knowledge of the Canadian market during our coming visit by sharing wines that underscore the distinctive personalities and viticultural diversity of Sonoma.”

Home to over 250 award-winning wineries, Sonoma County is one of the few chosen places on earth blessed with perfect soils and micro-climates that allow wine-grape growers to produce exciting wines full of passion, tradition and innovation. The county is home to 13 AVAs (American Viticultural Areas), each with its own unique characteristics and planted to a wide range of varietals. From cool-climate Chardonnay to rich hilliside Cabernet Sauvignon and everything in between, Sonoma County consistently produces memorable wines with true varietal character.
