Sante Wine Festival 2008

Well, I have to say that this year’s Sante Wine Festival was so much fun for me. We had the opporunity to meet with Anthony Sedlak during Sante Down Under, as well as Chef Tucci from the Hart House. Australia and California were the highlighted regions for this year’s festival and the winemakers were out in full force. During the international tasting, I had the opportunity to speak with Dogridge Wines, Winemaker, Fred Howard, who is absolutely charming. His Dogridge MVP Shiraz 2004 won best medium to full bodied red wine of Sante 2008. He also snuck in a contraband Sauvignon Blanc 2008 that had just been bottled. Apparently from David Lawrason surprised expression, this white was definitely a contender for next year’s best light and fruity white wine. Thank you to Le Sommelier wine agency for bringing Dogridge wines to Ontario, and for those of you who are interested in trying the Shiraz, it can be purchased as a 6 bottle case directly from Le Sommelier. I will be posting a video and, of course, some great pictures from the festival.
