I can’t get over how great Sante Down Under was, including the great food and the great selection of wines. There was a plethora of foods to suit everyone’s taste that were in true Aussie style, like the barbecued lamb chops, Barramundi with fennel salad and Aussie meatpies; these goodies were especially tasty.
The selection of wines to accompany these national treasures were equally impressive. I chose the Antiquarian McLaren Vale Shiraz 2001 to pair with the meat pie. The sweet black plumb, mixed with ripe raspberry enveloped my senses, and on the finish there was such elegance, reminiscent of soft serve vanilla icecream. The two paired perfectly together, although, as an everyday pairing, you may not go in this direction. The Antiquarian’s price tag is $52.50/bottle.
