Wine and Cheese Show 2008

The Toronto Wine & Cheese Show is known worldwide for its informative and refined selection of gourmet food and award-winning wines. It also features cuisine from renowned restaurants, exciting seminars, beers, single malt whiskies, forthcoming vintages and industry-regarded wine and beer competitions. It’s a show that has a consistent loyal following, that increases in numbers every year.

This year Share a Glass attended and was surprised at the number of Canadian Wineries that were in attendance; it seemed like there were alot more Canadian wineries then International — Well, kudos to the Canadian Wine Industry. We had the pleasure of visiting with our friends from Fielding Estate Winery and Caroline Cellars who always do Canada proud. They were both medal winners in a variety of wine categories for the show.

International wineries just didn’t seem as abundant. Although a couple of wine agencies boasted a fantastic portfolio, though it left me wanting a little more. I had the privilege of discussing a couple of new additions to the Gnarly Head wine label with Jarrod Scott from Select Wines; I will, however, let you watch the video to see what new gems they are.

Finally, a cheesy interview with Gurth Pretty, Canada’s Cheese Guru, finished the show; his new book, co-authored with Tony Aspler, The Wine Guy, is a must read and definitely worth the $$$.

I am definitely looking forward to next year’s show and I hope this spotlight helps you with a decision to attend as well.
