The Long Weeekend

The long weekend was a compilation of great weather, great food and great wine. We held a barbeque at our house that included Louisiana style back ribs, Beer Can Cajun Chicken and Pork Chorizo Sausages, accompanied by red potato salad, parmesan asparagus and grilled vegetables. The food alone was awesome, but the wines definitely took it to the next level. We drank Gnarly Head Old Vine Zin from California and Mionetto Il Prosecco from Veneto, Italy. The fruitiness of the Zinfandel enveloped the strong flavours of the food and cleansed our palates before the next amazing mouthful; I am not bragging, the meal was a joint effort, but it came together perfectly. The Prosecco cut through the spiciness of the food, especially the Cajun chicken and there was enough left over to toast to a great afternoon. We followed our meal with a white chocolate cheesecake that would pair beautifully with Caroline Cellars Pinot Cherry
